our purpose
Our purpose is to glorify God and share the love and grace of Jesus Christ with as many people as we can.
We fulfill this purpose by ministering
to spiritual, emotional and physical needs, by providing Christian
relationships in the family of God,
and by providing the challenge for
individual and collective spiritual growth. amen.

A Short History
In December 1971 the North Central Texas Presbytery organized a Cumberland Presbyterian Fellowship in Burleson. Services and activities were held in Hughes Middle School. Sanctuary and Sunday School classrooms were completed at 380 NW Tarrant (present Kid's Quest Theater) in February 1974.
In September 1975 Tom Campbell began as our full-time Pastor and shortly after the Fellowship was declared a church with full standing as a member of Presbytery.
Education and fellowship faculties (current choir room and offices) were added in September 1978 and in August 1982 Don Thomas became the second full-time pastor.
In November 1986 Rick Owen became our third full-time pastor.
April 1990 saw our new sanctuary, offices, nursery, and classrooms completed. Other parts of the building were remodeled. Then in 1997 our new education wing was added, giving room for Sunday School classes and the Christian Education school.
Our Activities Recreation Center (ARC) was completed in May 2003 and "The Connection" moved in for 9:40 Sunday worship.
"The Solution" Saturday evening worship began in January 2006 in the ARC.
In November of 2011, St. Matthew celebrated its 40 years of service in the community!
