What makes St. Matthew Outreach different?
ACTS 1:8 You will Know Why:
What is an Outreach Group?
St. Matthew Outreach groups help local members connect for support, awareness, resources, education and fundraising.
St. Matthew Outreach groups are not independent entities, but operate under St. Matthew central administration.
What do Outreach Coordinators do?
Outreach coordinators assist St. Matthew with starting, building and growing local groups and act as a liaison to the community.
Outreach coordinator activities include:
• Organizing and running quarterly face-to-face meetings for members, or online chats if needed
• Sending monthly email communications (template is created by national and space is provided for local information)
• Building strong relationships with local Certified Genetic Counselors
• Performing local fundraising events generating support.Additional responsibilities may include contacting local media, distributing brochures to doctors and CGCs, staffing Outreach exhibitor tables at local conferences and providing talks at hospitals, support groups and seminars.
Who is an ideal Outreach Coordinator?
• A motivated individual who is passionate about St. Matthew Outreach and raising awareness about Outreach.
• Someone who wants a rewarding opportunity to make a difference by empowering individuals and families.
• A person who is directly affected by Outreach or has a connection through family members or friends, or is educated in this field
• This leader will possess strong computer and communication skills and has time each week to dedicate to the position.
Coordinators need to be in the right “frame of mind” to reach out to others successfully. If you are struggling with your own health, or were recently tested and unsure of your next steps, we do not recommend starting at this time.
Outreach Coordinators need to be open and unbiased to the decisions made by others. Our community is diverse. People affected by Outreach come from varied backgrounds and will make different decisions with respect to managing or reducing their risk.
